Deptford Project London
Bailey’s expertise creates colourful results
RISE is a new eye-catching mixed-use development in the centre of Deptford in London, achieved using a combination of Bailey’s standard and bespoke building envelope products.
Part of the Deptford Project, a £42m scheme to regenerate the SE8 area, the building is a symbol of the creativity and culture of the local community.
Designed by Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, KDS Associates and Ash Sakula Architects, the contemporary, colourful eight-storey building, intended to reflect the modern vision for Deptford, provides a mix of studios, apartments and commercial space. Bailey worked with main contractor Ardmore Construction to deliver a range of durable fascias, soffits and rainscreen cladding for the project, alongside the multi-coloured privacy panels between the 115 balconied apartments.
The architect desired a specific palette of pantone colours, from which Bailey produced the colour-matched finishes for the privacy screens and the striking pink lift shafts.
Advising from an early stage of the project meant that Bailey could produce samples of various designs for the privacy screens to ensure they adhered to strict building regulations. A circular pattern of small punched holes was recommended to childproof the panels.
Working from 94 drawings of layouts and sections of the building, Bailey created integrated installation drawings to aid the contractor. In close partnership with the on-site team, Bailey instigated a staggered delivery system, floor by floor, improving efficiency. Bailey’s high-performance, design-led products, partnered with expert technical support, achieved the architect’s modern aesthetic, resulting in a building that mirrors the vibrancy of its community.
