Heathrow Underground: Curved Fascia Profiles and V-Plank Soffits

A major upgrade of Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3 Tube station on the Piccadilly line was completed for the 2012 London Olympics providing better access and a more welcoming station and ticket hall, both for visitors and regular passengers.

Bailey curved fascia profile was designed in conjunction with Tube line taking into account reduced space and on site tolerance issues.  Bailey V-Joint soffit was incorporated into the soffit design as it was supplied in standard lengths and could be installed in large amounts in a minimum time slot. Most of the soffits were above railway tracks and could only be installed at night during limited periods.

The Bailey V-Plank system has been designed to bring the appearance of planked soffits to a wide range of construction projects including many station soffit designs. Inspired by traditional planked soffits, this extruded aluminium panel is frequently used successfully on modern architectural projects. V-Joint is so adaptable that it is used to add interest and value to gable, facades, as well as soffits, providing features such as infill’s, herring bones and coffering.
