Ripple Retreat – Loch Venachar
Bailey’s fascia profiles wrap up charity retreat
There are few people who can say they haven’t been affected by cancer in some way or another. Sadly, this also applies to children and teenagers. Many are terribly impacted when a parent or guardian or even themselves become ill.
Scottish charity, ‘It’s Good 2 Give’, wanted to provide children with a relaxed and enjoyable escape from the challenges of the illness with the provision of a sanctuary by the beautiful Loch Venachar. The centre became known as ‘Ripple Retreat’ and is edged with Bailey’s fascia profile.
Designed by The Kettle Collective, inspiration for the building came from the undulating surface of the loch. Bailey supplied two fascias, the top profile that caps the rippled roof and the second, which is horizontal and wraps the living space.
Project architect at The Kettle Collective, Cathal zMorgan, said: “We approached Bailey for the fascia because they are the experts and we knew they would be able to achieve the correct detail and profile. We were able to collaborate with the Bailey team to get a great result.”
Bailey provided in depth 3D drawings for the initial design and detailed instructions for the fascia profiles. Working particularly closely with sub-contractors MBM Contracts, the team ensured that the installation ran smoothly.
MBM Hard Metals Ltd Contracts Director – David Ralston commented:
“Bailey’s 3D drawings and instructions made installation, straightforward and efficient. The fascia profiles did not have a consistent radius as one half was rippled and the other straight, so when the two had to meet it could have caused difficulties, but we had no problems whatsoever.”
Ripple Retreat was officially opened on Friday 12 May by TV personality, Lorraine Kelly, and has already welcomed its first visitors. The finished building is visually stunning with Bailey’s bespoke fascia profiles providing a strong outline and ultra durable solution to the retreat.
Bailey’s technical team is on hand to assist with every stage of the project, from initial concept to completion.
