As published in the EU Official Journal on 17th April 2013, the binding ‘Sunset Date’ for the use of Chrome Oxide/Chromic acid etc. in pre-treatment processes has been set for 21st September 2017. But, why wait until then?

Bailey are proud to announce we have successfully ‘set the sun’ on chrome pre-treatment processes this month!

For decades, chrome pre-treatments have been standard for architectural aluminium products due to their excellent performance. More recently, these chrome-based pre-treatments have come under pressure from environmental and health and safety reasons.

The first of chrome-free pre-treatments have been around for a long while now, and with decades of experience a chrome-free substances have now been created which have equivalent, if not more superior, qualities without the risks to health and the environment.

The chrome-free pre-treatments Bailey have used help to maximise adhesive and corrosion protection ensuring we meet all quality goals for architectural powder coated building envelope products. Bailey operates its own coating plant so that quality standards for pre-treatment, application and environmental friendliness can be observed throughout the entire process.
