Exciting site visit at The Lexicon, Bracknell

The Lexicon Bracknell

This week our CEO, Daniel Gilmore, visited The Lexicon in Bracknell; an exciting redevelopment project using Bailey Rainscreen Cladding. He was impressed to see how much progress had been made and the skill of the Prater installers on site.
Part of a £200 million regeneration of Bracknell town centre, once completed The Lexicon will be a 580,000 sq ft retail and leisure site that aims to bring vibrancy and life to the area.
Building envelope specialist Prater was appointed by lead contractor Mace to design and install the external envelope for eight retail buildings, choosing to work with us as trusted partners for the complex rainscreen cladding element of the project.
The jewel in the crown of The Lexicon is the new Fenwick department store. A showcase for the whole site, it will will boast more than 2,200 panels of Bailey Rainscreen Cladding, cut with a striking pattern of circles that will be lit from behind.
Fenwick required a standout, aesthetically stunning solution for the building, which we were well-placed to provide.
Daniel explains: “Each aluminium rainscreen panel for the building is individually treated and then anodised to give a unique texture and a really premium look. Currently being manufactured and delivered to the site, the panels are being expertly installed by the Prater team, which I experienced first-hand during my recent visit.
“It was great to see the levels of precision and speed being employed by the installers, who are a credit to Prater and to Bailey. They are doing this incredibly intricate design justice and I would like to thank the team for their ongoing dedication.”
With more than 21 different types of panel, and various backing framework designs, it’s been essential that we work closely with the on-site team to provide detailed drawings and guides.
A Bailey representative visits the site every week to speak with project managers and installers to ensure everything is going to plan and to support with any technical queries.
Construction work is scheduled for completion in summer 2016 and the retail centre is due to open in spring 2017.
We will have a full case study and photography of the finished project available on our website in due course. Please follow us on LinkedIn for updates.
